Abstract: This was one of the first pieces of writing I did for this class. This cover letter discussed some of my interests and background in science while also applying for an internship that would also relate to my major. It also covered some of my goals I had for the future as a student.

Dear Ms. Skelly,

I hope this letter finds you at a good time! My name Is Franco and I’m a freshman at the
City College of New York. I’m writing for the internship that is being offered for research. I
believe that I should be considered for an interview. I am working towards my bachelors for
biology. I haven’t done any science work other than school projects, but I would love to be able
to work and learn from experts. I have a deep interest in science and right now I’m exploring
different path where I could follow. That is why this internship is such a big deal for me. I may
not have any experience but I do have the motivation and hunger to learn.

Moreover, I’m a very friendly person and I can work/get along with anyone. I have a
very curious personality which makes me want to learn everything as fast as possible. For
example, when I first got hired for my job at a fast food place, there were multiple stations where
you had to learn how to do. I have learned how to do my job properly, but I still can learn to be
better at it. That is something that is exciting about this internship because I’m able to learn so
much foreign stuff that can actually relate to what I’m studying in college.
